Wanderlust and Whimsy: Saksham’s Honeymoon Trip to Switzerland with Thrillophilia
When the plane touched down in Rome, Saksham turned to his wife, who was staring out the window with wide gleaming eyes. She caught his gaze and smiled.
“Ready to walk through ancient history?” she teased with excitement.
Saksham laughed, “I have been ready since I promised you this honeymoon. Rome first, Florence next, Zurich…, and then Paris…” He said, glancing at her.
His wife replied in a soft voice, “Paris… the city of love. It sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?”
“Well, we are about to live it. Let us make this the trip we will talk about for the rest of our lives.”
Saying this, Saksham stepped out of the airport with his wife into the bustling streets of Rome, feeling the energy of the ancient city seeping into their souls.
…And the Adventure Began!
The Eternal City welcomed them with warmth, and their first stop was the iconic Colosseum. Saksham looked up awe-struck by the sheer magnitude of it.
“Imagine this,” she said. “Gladiators, roaring crowds… centuries of stories hidden in these stones.”
Saksham smiled, watching her as she got lost in the history. “Or,” he teased, “just two modern-day travelers, falling more in love with each step.”
They spent hours wandering through Rome’s ancient sites and eventually found themselves walking through Trastevere. Both of them went into a small restaurant, where the scent of fresh pasta floated from every corner.
“Best pasta I have ever had,” Saksham declared with complete satisfaction.
His wife raised her glass to him. “Here is to our adventure,” she toasted. “Rome has already set the bar pretty high”.
Art and Love for Gelato
Florence greeted them with warm sunlight spilling over Piazzale Michelangelo that cast a golden hue over the city’s iconic red roofs. Saksham and his wife stood hand-in-hand at the overlook to absorb the view.
My wife sighed, “I have always wanted to see Florence like this… the way artists see it.”
Saksham wrapped an arm around her. “Let us be artists today, then. Just us and this masterpiece of a city.”
Together, they wandered through the artistic heart of Florence, admiring the Duomo and crossing the Arno over Ponte Vecchio. They even enjoyed gelato in a tiny piazza while watching the locals pass by. With each bite, they marvelled at the creamy sweetness and debated the best flavours, laughing like children savouring their treat.
The evening sky turned a warm dusky pink as they wandered back to their hotel. “Doesn’t it look like a scene from the Renaissance painting?” his wife said softly while taking in the skyline with wonder. They watched the lights flicker on to cast a glow over the timeless cityscape.
Trips's Highlight- Switzerland
Although Saksham’s wife was drawn to the history, Saksham seemed more attracted to the snow-covered landscapes. With that excitement, they took off on a scenic train ride to Lucerne, winding through stunning mountains and past glistening lakes.
While traveling, his wife looked out the window and was mesmerised by the views. “Saksham, look!” It is like every corner of this place is magic.”Saksham smiled, watching her eyes in astonishment. “That is Switzerland for you. Feels like a place that could hold our best memories.” The train journey itself was a highlight, passing by quaint villages with cosy wooden cottages and snow-capped peaks rising in the distance.
In Lucerne, they strolled along the Chapel Bridge and gazed over the tranquil lake. Its waters reflected the surrounding mountains like a mirror. They even took a cable car up to the mountain to Grindelwald village. Standing on top of the snowy peak, they marveled at the untouched beauty around them. His wife remarked, “What more could we have possibly asked for!”
The two of them spun and laughed under the wide endless sky. “If heaven is half this beautiful, then I do not need to worry about paradise.” They took photos, playfully threw snowballs, and stood there to absorb the majestic beauty of the Swiss Alps.
The Grand Finale in the City of Love
The last leg of their journey was Paris, which had been their dream destination for years. Saksham’s wife had been waiting for this moment since they planned their trip, and her excitement was contagious. In Paris, they went to Montmartre, where they took the funicular up the hill and arrived at the steps of Sacré-Cœur.
Paris spread out below them, shimmering under the late afternoon sun. Saksham’s wife looked at him, and said softly, “I cannot believe we are really here.”Saksham nodded, “Saved the best for the last!”
They spent the entire day walking through the city’s boulevards, tasting pastries in quaint cafes, and admiring the masterpieces at the Louvre museum. By evening, they arrived at the Eiffel Tower, where Saksham had planned a surprise.
As the tower began to sparkle, he went close to his wife and said, “To all our dreams, to this love we have.”
She looked at him and her eyes reflected the lights of the tower. They shared a quiet moment, bathed in the golden glow of Paris. It seemed that they were the only two people in the world standing under the vast sky of the city of love.
Their European journey had shown them wonders beyond imagination, but the best part was sharing it all. It was a honeymoon they would cherish forever - a story of love, adventure, and the beauty of discovering life hand in hand.
