When Anushka Tripathi and Abhishek Shukla began thinking about how to celebrate their first wedding anniversary, they agreed on one thing almost immediately. They wanted to get away from their routine to somewhere absolutely relaxing and slow-paced. They weren't looking for a packed sightseeing holiday or a destination where they would spend more time back-to-back travelling than just sitting back and unwinding. What they wanted was a week by the sea, with enough experiences to make every day feel different.

Thailand turned out to be the perfect fit.

Phuket Made It Easy to Slow Down

"The best part of our trip was the Phi Phi Island tour because we got to see a lot of beautiful islands, crystal clear water, so that was really impressive, and we could not take our eyes off the water," she said.

The full-day excursion was thoughtfully planned, with island transfers and lunch already arranged as part of the day, allowing the couple to focus entirely on exploring rather than worrying about where to eat or how to get to the next stop. Between relaxing on the beaches, soaking in the changing coastal scenery, and enjoying the unhurried pace of the tour, the day unfolded exactly as they had imagined. Their last day in Phuket offered a welcome change of pace.

Instead of another island excursion, they explored Phuket Town, where colourful Sino-Portuguese buildings, old streets, and local neighbourhoods revealed a side of the island that many visitors often miss. It was a reminder that Phuket has more to offer than its beaches.

The evening became even more special with a candlelight dinner arranged as part of the itinerary. Coming during their anniversary trip, it felt like the perfect way to celebrate before continuing the journey to Krabi the following day.

Krabi Brought New Landscapes and Some of the Trip's Best Moments

The transfer to Krabi introduced a completely different setting. Towering limestone cliffs, quieter beaches, and a more relaxed atmosphere gave the second half of the holiday its own character.

After checking into GLOW Ao Nang Krabi, the couple spent the rest of the day exploring at their own pace before setting out for the experiences that would define their stay there.

One of those was the 7 Island Sunset Tour.

As the longtail boat moved between islands, the changing colours of the evening transformed the coastline, and they almost concluded their day with a delicious Thai dinner. After this, the only experience they added to that day was sitting quietly and enjoying watching luminescent plankton glowing in the water after sunset.

"We also did this sunset island tour in Krabi, which was really beautiful," Anushka shared while looking back on the trip.

Their final full day took them away from the beaches and into Krabi's forests. The Jungle Tour included stops at the Emerald Pool, the Hot Spring Waterfall, and Tiger Cave Temple, adding a completely different experience to a holiday that had already included islands, beaches, and city exploration.

By the time they returned to their hotel that evening, they had seen two very different sides of southern Thailand within a single week.

When Anushka talks about the trip today, she doesn't focus on just one destination. Instead, she remembers how each place added something different to the journey.

"We visited Phuket and Krabi this time. We covered Phi Phi Island tour, Phuket city tour and we also did this sunset island tour in Krabi, which was really beautiful," she said, listing the experiences that made the anniversary holiday feel complete.
