Perfect Blend of Modern & Ancient Architecture
Rohan remembered his childhood trips and how his parents used to take him on walks and unique places to show him the “real city” and not just as a tourist. That is what Rohan planned for his parents and how he wanted to show them every corner of the cities they visited. The panoramic Baku tour was unforgettable for Rohan and his family.
They strolled in the famous Nizami Street welcomed by a lively atmosphere, colourful shops, charming cafes, and vibrant live performances. They enjoyed browsing for unique souvenirs and indulging in delicious local cuisine, from freshly baked baklava to traditional kebabs. The family marvelled at the energy of the street, which perfectly blended the old and new sides of Baku.
The highlight of the tour came as they visited Highland Park, which showed them the stunning skyline of Baku. From the vantage point, they could see the magnificent modern skyscrapers and traditional buildings creating a contrasting view. They were astounded by the intersection of such diverse marvels of the city.
Their tour of the Old City was no less than wonderful. They explored the famous Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs. Rohan’s parents, especially, were fascinated by the rich history and the intricate architectural details. Their cultural exploration was made more interesting with a visit to the National Carpet Museum, where they marvelled at the exquisite craftsmanship of Azerbaijani carpets.
Their Baku trip ended with a serene walk along the Boulevard and a tranquil sea voyage in the Caspian Sea, providing the perfect end to a day of exploration, history, and culture. The entire experience felt like a journey through time and a deep dive into the soul of Baku.
Snowland & Skiing Adventure
Their ski adventure was the one Rohan and his sister awaited the most and their trip to Shahdag Mountain Ski Resort turned out to be the most fun adventure. They were greeted by the picturesque beauty of the Shahdag Mountains, their snow-capped peaks glistening under the winter sun.
Rohan couldn’t contain his excitement as he strapped on his skis for the first time. His father encouraged him while his mother cheered from the sidelines. Rohan’s younger sister was thrilled to try something new and exclaimed, “This is going to be so much fun! I am definitely racing you, Rohan!” Even after a lot of tripping and falling down, they enjoyed skiing a lot!
The family also took a serene cable car ride that offered panoramic views of the majestic mountains. As they went towards the top, the landscapes below unfolded in mesmerizing detail, leaving them awestruck. Rohan’s mother remarked how the scenery felt straight out of a painting and clicked so many pictures to cherish forever.
By the end of the day, the family was tired but overjoyed, filled with laughter and stories to share. As they returned to their hotel, Rohan knew this day would remain etched in their hearts as a cherished memory.
The Fiery Mountain
Their Azerbaijan trip concluded with an interesting trip to the Absheron Peninsula to check out its wonders! Their first stop was Yanardagh, the “fiery mountain,” where flames have danced across its surface for centuries due to natural gas emissions. Rohan was mesmerized by the fiery spectacle and how this natural wonder had been there for so long! He stood there in awe for a while and they all clicked countless pictures, capturing the mesmerizing flames from every angle.
Their visit to the ancient Zoroastrian temple was quite fascinating. They all marvelled at its historic significance and learned about its deep ties to fire worship. The guide’s stories about ancient rituals transported them to a different era and brought some insight into their sacred rituals and traditions.
The grand Mardakan Castle was their next stop, where they admired the imposing architecture and learned about the strategic role it played in Azerbaijan’s history. Climbing to the top offered them sweeping views of the surrounding area.
Their final destination was the Heydar Aliyev Center, an architectural masterpiece designed by Zaha Hadid. The fluid curves of the building left them spellbound, and they couldn’t resist taking more photos against its stunning backdrop. As they returned to their hotel, Rohan’s family reflected on their enriching day, filled with history, beauty, and unforgettable memories.
Returning to the home Rohan and his family talked about the amazing trip they had and the memories they created. His parents were especially overwhelmed by joy as they thanked Rohan for planning this amazing trip to the amazing country!
