To simplify their planning and avoid the hassle of booking hotels and arranging transportation, they booked the trip through Thrillophilia, eagerly awaiting the chance to reunite, share stories, and spill all the beans.

Meghalaya’s Marvellous Waterfalls

Meghalaya is famous for its majestic waterfalls and breathtaking viewpoints. Samyami and her friend couldn’t believe their eyes when they found every waterfall even more mesmerising than the last one, each of them with unique scenic beauty and adventure.

On their trip, they covered the Spread Eagle Waterfall, the famous Elephant Falls, and the Mawkdok Dympep Viewpoint. Their first one was the iconic Spread Eagle Waterfall, where the cascading water and the striking resemblance to an eagle spreading its wings left them both speechless.

The highlight for them was undoubtedly Elephant Falls, they delighted in the serene atmosphere, feeling the cool mist on their faces. It was even more beautiful than the pictures they had seen. Their hearts were filled with peace and their galleries with endless pictures!

When they reached the Mawkdok Dympep Viewpoint and witnessed the breathtaking view, Samyami exclaimed with her eyes wide with wonder, “This place is beyond beautiful.” Both felt incredibly refreshed and peaceful in the magical setting of nature.

The Nongriat Trekking Adventure

What made their Meghalaya trip the most adventurous one was the Nongriat Trek! The journey tested their endurance and rewarded them with nature’s wonders. The trek, which took them through dense forests and rugged terrain, was an exhilarating challenge. What made it more interesting and thrilling was the rain that started pouring in mid of their trek.

After hours of walking, soaking in rain, they finally arrived at the Double Decker Root Bridge, a marvel of nature and human ingenuity. The sight of the living bridge, formed by the intertwining roots of ancient trees, was nothing short of magical, and the rain made it even more mystical.

They crossed the bridge, feeling the cool breeze and admiring the stunning view of the surrounding forest. The trek was exhausting, but the beauty and serenity of the Double Decker Root Bridge made every step worthwhile, leaving them feeling incredibly accomplished and at peace. Along the trek, Samyami and her friend encountered several locals, engaging in conversations that revealed the vital role the bridge played in their daily lives.

They learned how the Double Decker Root Bridge serves as the only connection between remote villages, a lifeline for the community. Their guide enhanced the experience by sharing captivating stories of the area’s history and the unique natural phenomenon that has made life easier and more convenient for the locals. These insights added a rich layer of understanding to their adventure, making the trek even more meaningful.

Strolling Through Shillong

Their stay in Shillong was a leisurely one where they explored the city at their own pace visiting the iconic landmarks and sprawling local markets. They visited the serene Ward’s Lake and Shillong Peak to enjoy the panoramic views of the city. Both of their favourite was the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians. The astounding architecture and the peace surrounding the sacred place gave them a sense of belongingness and enlightenment.

They spent a couple of hours just soaking in the sanctity of the place and then headed to the local markets to spend a fun evening. They discovered unique handicrafts, fresh produce, and delicious street food, fully immersing themselves in the vibrant culture.

A Tranquil Boating Adventure

Their last stop on the trip was the famous Dawki River and Mawlynnong Village. Samyami and her friend were enchanted by the pristine beauty of Mawlynnong, Asia’s cleanest village. They wandered through its lush landscapes, marvelling at the meticulously maintained surroundings and interacting with friendly locals to understand their way of sustainable living.

Afterwards, they ventured to the serene Dawki River, where they enjoyed a peaceful boat ride on its crystal-clear waters. The iconic Dawki Bridge provided breathtaking views of the emerald river below, surrounded by rolling hills. As they glided across the water, the tranquillity of the moment left them both feeling deeply connected to nature, marking a highlight of their Meghalaya adventure.

Meghalaya had gifted them not only breathtaking stories but also deepened their bond, strengthened by the misty landscapes and majestic experiences they shared. After a joyful reunion and creating unforgettable memories on their trip, Samyami and her friend were already excited to plan their next adventure.
